He is best known for his pioneering work on anthropogenic effects of ancient agriculture on soil quality and agricultural sustainability of dryland and irrigated fields.

During this period, I realized a stay at the CEA-Cadarache (France), held in the EU-PostChernobyl Actions, and carried out laboratory work, experimental field work, and different works in radioactive facilities and in Chernobyl evacuated area. In the Radioprotection area, I also carried out European projects on experimental radioecology (development of soil decontamination technologies; transfer of radionuclides to vegetation and crops and development of new analytical methods). I’ve participated in projects in order to estimate the radiological vulnerability of Spanish soils, throughout the creation of a soil database (more than 2,000 georeferenced profiles), the development of a specific methodology, and the estimation of the radiological vulnerability indexes.
